The Ring is reporting the Canelo vs. Plant fight is a done deal for November 6th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. This is a huge relief for the fans of these two fighters.
This is a mouth-watering fight that will establish once and for all who is the #1 fighter at 168. It’s the final hurdle that superstar Canelo (56-1-2, 38 KOs) must overcome to end his journey to becoming the four-belt undisputed champion at super middleweight.
It’s taken Canelo three years to get to where he’s at now, and he can’t afford to come up short given the time he’s put into this project.
Canelo, definitely is the favorite with the odds-makers. Still, you can’t rule out a win for the talented Plant (21-0, 12 KOs), who is like a bigger version of Floyd Mayweather Jr. Indeed, Plant can do everything Mayweather can and give Canelo the same kind of problems.
Moreso, Boxing legend Manny Pacquiao, an 8-x division champion who is also a senator in the Philippines, will take on Cuba’s Yordenis Ugás today at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Artur Beterbiev has been ordered to defend his WBC light heavyweight title against #1 Marcus Browne. Mauricio Sulaiman, the WBC president, told ESPN that Beterbiev (16-0, 16 KOs) has been ordered to defend his belt against the 2012 U.S Olympian Browne.
Tyson Fury posted on social media on Wednesday to let his loyal fans know that he’s going offline for the next 52 days until AFTER his trilogy match with Deontay Wilder on October 9th. Fury claims that it will be a “total blackout” from him until after he faces Wilder (42-1-1, 41 KOs) for the third time.
Fury has only started training for the Wilder fight, leaving him just six weeks to ready himself for the dangerous knockout artist.
There is already a legion of boxing fans that believe WBC heavyweight champion Fury (30-0-1, 21 KOs) won’t make it to the fight, and he’ll come up with another excuse to swerve the trilogy to avoid a knockout defeat at the hands of Wilder.
If Fury backs out again, WBC interim champion Dillian Whyte calls for the World Boxing Council to strip him and give him the ‘Champions in Recess tag. Whyte wants to be the one to fight Wilder, and that might happen if Fury keeps delaying the fight.
