APC Inaugurate Campaign Committee For February Bye Election in Jigawa

In preparation for the forthcoming 3rd February Bye Election, the All Progressive Congress (APC) Jigawa state chapter has inaugurated a campaign committee under the chairmanship of the State Deputy Governor, Engr. Aminu Usman.

Speaking during the occasion held at the state party headquarters, the APC chairman Hon Aminu Sani Gumel Sa’id, the February Re-run election is very important to the party and is an opportunity for the party to reclaim its missing seat.

He noted that the state governor Malam Umar Namadi after due consultation with all stakeholders approved the constitution of the Committee saddled with the responsibility to ensure the party wins the Re-run election for the Birninkudu/Buji Federal constituency seat.

In his speech after their inauguration, the chairman camping committee, the Deputy Governor promised to mobilize all stakeholders in the constituency where the Re-run election will take place and beyond to deliver the task given to them.

He said, the people of Birninkudu/Buji have confidence in APC and its candidate as they enjoyed unprecedented dividends of democracy under them, therefore he has confidence in winning the Re-run election.

Other members of the Committee included: Secretary to State Government Alhaji Bala Ibrahim, members state assembly Buji constituency, the state party chairman, all Special Advisers and Assistants to the governor among others.

During the 2023 general election, INEC declared Hon Adamu Yakubu of PDP as the winner of the election for the Buji/Birninkudu federal constituency, the victory which was challenged by Hon. Engr Magaji Da’u Aliyu of APC.

The election tribunal sitting in Dutse ordered for the re-run election at 8 polling units, the ruling which was also upheld by the Appeal Court and mandated INEC to conduct the rerun within three months to determine the winner.

A total number of 5,642 registered voters are expected to participate in the only Re-run election scheduled to be held on 3rd February 2024 in Jigawa state.
