2023 Elections: INEC Chairman Meets Leadership of APC, PDP, LP Others in Abuja

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, has held a meeting with the leadership of the 18 political parties at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

The meeting, the first this year, is intended to present the 2023 voter register to the parties ahead of the elections as required by the 2022 Electoral Act.

In attendance at the meeting were leaders of the All Progressives Congress, the Peoples Democratic Party, the Labour Party, and the New Nigeria People’s Party, amongst others.

In another development, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Cross River has devolved the ongoing collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) from its Local Government Area (LGA) Offices to the 193 wards in the state.

A statement by the state Head of the Voter Education and Publicity Department, Mrs. Anthonia Nwobi said the commission had on December 12, 2022, begun the collection of PVCs at its LGA Offices, a process that would run till January 22, 2023.

According to the statement, the devolvement of PVC collection to the 193 registration areas or wards in Cross River, would last from January 6 to 15.

It further added that the exercise became necessary to enable persons unable to collect their PVCs at the LGA Offices of the commission to do so in their wards.
