INEC Says Election May Not Hold in 4 Flashy Areas in Kebbi

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kebbi State says 1,890,015 have collected their PVCs out of the 2,032,041 registered voters in the state and they would be casting their votes in 3,738 polling units across the 21 local government areas of the state.

Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Barrister Ahmad Bello Mahmud disclosed this while briefing newsmen at the state headquarters, of INEC in Birnin Kebbi ahead of Saturday’s Presidential elections.

REC Mahmud explained that the total number of registered voters in the state is:  2,032,041 while the total number of polling units in the state is:  3,743 and the number of polling units where elections will hold stood at 3,738.

Meanwhile, he said 5 polling Units have been canceled as a result of zero registered.

The number of collected PVCs stood at 1,961,028 while the number of uncollected PVCs in the state stood at 71,013.

He said all the non-sensitive material required for the presidential elections has been distributed to all 21 local government areas.

While all the sensitive material comprising the result sheet, and ballot papers is still in the custody of the CBN and it will be deployed today under the protection of the security agency. As for the BVAS, INEC said they have been largely deployed to all the 21 local government areas in the state.

Speaking on logistics and movement of personal, and officials and Materials, the REC said they have already made arrangements on logistics generally, he said a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has already been signed with  NURTW,  NATO, and the Marin transporters, this he said it will enable the ease movement of their personal and materials to the various location including the riverine areas in the state.

On Gender: He also explains that gender priority will be given to women voters who are pregnant, nursing mothers, and old age.

He equally said the physical challenge particularly the blinds will be giving a technology that will assist them to cast their votes on Election Day.

On Security: He however, commended the security agencies in the state for collaborating with the commission, he disclosed that about four flashing areas have been discovered namely; Dakowasagu, Sakaba, Fakai, and Ngaski Local Government Areas as a result of insecurity.”

He stressed that the security agencies are going to meet over the areas to take necessary steps on whether the election will hold in the affected areas or not.”

He added that the training, screening, and recruitment of ad hoc collation, Returning, SPOs, POs, and APOs have since been concluded.
