Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kàno state has presented a staff of office to Dr, Aliyu Ibrahim as the third 1 at class Emir of Gaya.
An elaborate ceremony that was held at Gaya stadium on Saturday attracted eminent personalities from all walks of life from within and outside the country.
Speaking after the presentation of the staff, Governor Ganduje who was visibly elated said the state Government created additional four Emirates to bring Development closer to people, engage all in administrative issues and create other cities outside metropolitan Kano for rapid progression of the state.
The Governor spoke at length on feats achieved by his administration and admonished the emir to lead by example.
We hope that you will build on your father’s legacies and rule with humanity, diligence and change the status of Gaya Emirate for the better ” said Ganduje.
He added be committed to our undertakings and do your best in improving security, education, health and all other aspects of human development”
In his acceptance speech, the Emir, Dr, Aliyu Ibrahim thanked Allahu SWT for making it possible to be an emir, the state Governor for approving the appointment, and all those who make the whole process a huge success.
“I remain thankful to all and I will do my utmost best in uplifting Gaya Emirate and my door will remain open always to welcome positive suggestions to forge ahead” dressed the emir.
In a goodwill message, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Saad Abubakar III, assured the support of emirs in the northern region to the emir of Gaya to serve his people diligently.
Earlier on a welcome address, the Secretary to the State Government and Wazirin Gaya, Alh. Usman Alhaji on behalf of the people of the emirate doffed the hat to Kano State Governor for upgrading the status of Gaya Emirate and the developmental projects going on to modernize the emirate.
It could be recalled that the emir had succeeded his father (Alh. Ibrahim Abdulkadir) who passed away on 22 September last year following his nomination by the emirate’s kingmakers and approval by the state Governor.
The emir is a Chartered Accountant and before his appointment had served the state government for years and distinguished himself in his chosen career. He was also the Chairman Gaya before ascending the throne of emir ship
The occasion witnessed the attendances of the Federal government delegation led by the chief of staff to the President, ministers, emirs from different parts of the country. Niger and Cameroon republics and a host of other well-wishers.
