Kebbi State Government has donated 27 vehicles to security agencies comprising; the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police, Department of Security Devices (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) as well as Vigilante Group operating in the state.
A statement by the Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, on Thursday said while handing over the new vehicles to heads of security agencies at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi; the Governor said the operational vehicles were meant to intensify the fight against insecurity across the state.
He added that “27 brand new Hilux vehicles were purchased at the cost of about two billion naira and I am happy today we are handing them to the security agencies.”
Governor Idris also said the Police received 10 vehicles, the Army six, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence three, DSS four, Vigilante Group one, and Security Adviser one.
The governor urged the security agencies to make judicious use of the vehicles to effectively tackle crimes and criminalities in the state.
While commending the security agencies in the state for their diligence and gallant efforts at combatting crime, the governor assured them of more support to enable them to perform their duties effectively.
Highlighting some achievements of his administration, the Governor sought more cooperation and support from the current government in the state to enable them to deliver the goods successfully.
Responding on behalf of other security Agencies in the state, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Christ Aimiondwane assured the governor that the vehicles would put to effective in fighting crimes in the state.
