The Nigerian Police Force in Kano says a popular thug known as Hantar Daba has surrendered himself to the state Command.

This was made known on Tuesday in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.

In the statement, the Police recalled three top thugs, Nasiru Abdullahi aka Chile Maidoki of Layin Polewire Kurna, Abba Burakita of Dorayi Karama Quarters, including Hantar Daba of Kwanar Disu were asked to report at the State Command.

After being hesitant to respond to the Police invitation within the time frame, a bounty of five hundred thousand naira (N500,000:00) on each person’s head.

The reason for placing the bounty is because the trio are influential youths who have been identified as promoting thuggery (Fadan Yan Daba) in the Kano metropolis.

The PPRO further explained that the last hangout event held at Sani Abacha In-door Stadium, Kofar Mata on 17th October 2023 changed their mindsets; Hantar Daba now bringing himself in the company of his Mother and his topmost former rival now bosom friend Abba Burakita of Dorayi leading him to the Police Command.

“I am sure you will also recall that Abba Burakita and Chile Maidoki had since reported and surrendered themself to the Command especially Abba Burakita who later brought his followers totaling forty (40) on the 26th of October, 2023.

“The good news is that the last person; Hantar Daba yesterday 27th of November, 2023 who has been on the run finally surrendered himself to the Police Command.

“He was led with joy and happiness by his mother and some family members requesting to be part of the amnesty program of the State Government, adding that Hantar Daba said he is so sorry for the past ugly life and is now ready to participate in the promotion of peace and sustainable development of the State.

“He admitted that he controls more than 100 followers from his camp whom he has a strong influence on and will broker peace with them and bring them to totally change from the longtime supremacy fight (Fadan Yan Daba) regime between Hausawa, Gwale, and Kofar Na’isa Thugs Groups,” the PPRO said.

Meanwhile, Hantar Daba is currently under the custody of the Kano State Police Command undergoing security profiling, the Commissioner of Police called on anyone with a complaint against him to report at the Office of the PPRO at Bompai Police Headquarters Kano or lodge the complaint through the following contact numbers 0806 572 7389 or 07033093437.
