Sokoto to Commence Legitimate Mining of Phosphate Minerals – Commissioner

Sokoto State Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development, Alhaji Isah Tambagarka has reiterated his desire to collaborate with local and foreign investors to tap the state mineral resources for socio-economic development.

The Commissioner disclosed this when he received in the audience a team of experts from Solid Minerals Development funds led by Exploration Manager Sheikh Mukhtar in his office.

According to the leader of the team, they were in the state to seek the consent of the government and to partner with the present administration in the exploration and development of phosphate minerals in the Dange Shuni local government area.

In his remarks, the Commissioner conveyed a sense of optimism that the efforts would translate into substantial and rapid Development of the State and improve the living standard of citizens in line with the administration’s nine (9) points agenda.

Tambagarka further said ‘traditional rulers would be involved in the quest for mining of the State God giving mineral.

 “Traditional rulers are in the best position to know the terrain as custodians of culture and traditions of their Communities.”

He, however, reiterated his commitment and desire to harness and utilize the mineral, effectively and proficiently to make the state economic powerhouse of solid minerals in Nigeria.

The meeting was witnessed by the permanent secretary of the ministry Aminu Muhammad Abubakar Gawo, Engineer Vikas Dhiman in charge of drilling and geology, Lawal Abdulrahman
