An awesome strike from the Portugal’s Bruno Fernandes served up by the veteran defender gave the Red Devils a scrappy but much-needed 1-0 win at Turf Moor
When Jonny Evans was named in the line-up to face Burnley, many of Manchester United fans shuddered. But after the 35-year-old Northern Irishman led the Red Devils’ to an unconvincing but valuable 1-0 win, his name was being sung by the boisterous away fans.
Evans scored a disallowed goal and then delivered a beautiful pass which Bruno Fernandes struck first time into the far corner. The goal had come out of nowhere and after a tough first half in which Burnley striker Zeki Amdouni hit the post and forced a fine save from Andre Onana.
Evans continued to dictate United’s play from deep in another unconvincing second half but United finally have an away win at the third time of asking and their miserable run of three consecutive defeats is over. Could this be the first step in Erik ten Hag’s side’s revival?
