SOZECOM Disburses Zakkat to Less Privilege

The Sokoto State Zakat and Endowment Commission (SOZECOM) has distributed zakat to twenty less privileged beneficiaries in the state.

Presenting the assistance, the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Malam Muhammad Lawal Maidoki ( Sadaukin Sokoto ) said the amount represented the zakat collected from a wealthy businessman in the state for onward distribution to the needy according to the teachings of Islamic religion.

The beneficiaries according to him comprise those who forwarded their requests to the commission seeking financial assistance to establish a Soya beans cake business known as  KWAI DA KWAI in the Hausa.

Malam Lawal Maidoki appealed to the beneficiaries to use the amount collected judiciously and for the purpose it was intended for benefit of their family and to get empowered economically.

He said the Commission would continue to monitor their business progress, adding that best performers would be appreciated with the increase of their business capital

Mallam Muhammad Lawal Maidoki then used the medium to thank the state government and the Sultanate Council as well as the Islamic scholars for their support of the activities of the Commission.

The Executive Chairman later flagged off the distribution exercise of the zakat financial assistance to the twenty selected beneficiaries, who were all females drawn from different parts of the state metropolis.

 Each one of the beneficiaries received ten thousand naira cash.

The occasion was witnessed by the Directors and Staff of the SOZECOM.
