Kano Hisbah Board Sets to Commence Mass Wedding

The Kano State Hisbah Board has set to spend the sum of over N800 million for a mass wedding scheme.

As part of the benefits of the scheme to the couples, the Board also procured furniture, food items, dowry, and clothing materials for 1,800 intending couples. 

Commander General of the Board, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa made the disclosure on Wednesday while inspecting items for the mass wedding.

He stated that the scheme was initiated to help unmarried couples. 

“Each bride will receive a set of beds, with mattress and pillows, as well as N20,000 to start up a business after the wedding.

He also highlighted the beneficiaries who came from the 44 Local Government Areas of the State will reduce social vices and also help parents who cannot sponsor the wedding of their wards.

Daurawa further called on elites and philanthropists to pledge more support for the initiative.

The board however said it will notify the public on the date and venue of the wedding as soon as arrangements are concluded, pointing out that, the board will not condone anyone found guilty of divorcing his wife as criteria has been spelt out for selection of beneficiaries.
