The Concern Citizens Project (CCP) has called on Department of State Services (DSS) to redouble it’s effort in supporting genuine war against corruption in Nigeria.
This was contained in a press statement signed by Amb. Salisu Jajii, the National Coordinator of the organization.
The group described the corruption as bane of our national development, and all hands must be on deck to fight it for peace progress and prosperity.
“For the fight against corruption to succeed, people of integrity, moral discipline must be saddle with responsibilities of heading anti financial crime agencies and other related institutions for the mission to be achieved.
” People of questionable character, people with cases to answear must not be in the running of such institutions or the war against corruption.”
The statement however commended DSS for the way and manner it is handling the case of former Central Bank Governor (CBN) Mr. Godwin Emifele and that of the former EFCC Boss, Abdulrasheed Bawa.
“The duo are currently charged to court by DSS on alleged cases related to financial crimes and national security.
“We hope the Director-General of DSS, Yusuf Bichi will resist ny pressure and intimidation in following this high profile case to the logical conclusion for national interest.
“The DSS must not be allowed to be prevented from carrying out their constitutional duty on these matters because any compromise in such case, the cost will be enormous and capable of bringing this country on its knees, emboldening terrorist sponsors and worse demoralizing our security agencies and personnel from discharging their responsibilities,” the statement added.
