Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadii has launched the sales of fertilizer to farmers at a subsidized price of ₦16,000 per 50kg bags of NPK 20-10-10.
The governor flagged off the sales of the fertilizer during a ceremony held at Jigawa Agricultural Supply Company headquarters, in Dutse capital.
In his speech, Malam Namadi stated that his government subsidized the fertilizer in order to support farmers to boost their production for achieving more food security in the state and country.
The Governor then warmed the members of the fertilizer sales committee against diverting the commodities, putting political sentiment, or any prejudice in the process.
In his speech at the flagging off, the chairman of the Fertilizer Sales Committee, Senator Mustapha Makama Kiyawa Sa’id, a total of 200 trucks of NPK fertilizer were procured and distributed across the 27 local government areas of the state for onward sales to the farmers.
Senator Makama who is also Chief of Staff at Government House, Dutse added that 43 centers were established as sales outlets to make the commodities accessible to all farmers in the state.
He noted that measures and modalities have been adopted to ensure that only genuine farmers are allowed to buy the fertilizer for achieving the desired goals.
Senator Makama then assured the Governor, farmers, and the entire people of the state that his committee will handle the job with sincerity, honesty, and dictation to the service of the state and humanity as food security is integral for human peace and survival.
