The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has suspended its planned strike action slated to commence on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, over the removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila disclosed to journalists on Monday night after a marathon meeting between NLC and the federal government team.

One of the seven resolutions reached by both teams is that the Federal Government, the Trade Union Congress, and the NLC would establish a joint committee to review the proposal for any wage increase or award and establish a framework and timeline for implementation.

The NLC President, Joe Ajaero confirmed the development.

Recall that the National Industrial Court, Abuja, had earlier on Monday restrained the organized labour from going ahead with the planned strike.
