As People Democratic Party (PDP) failed to file any petition against the 2023 state governorship election in Jigawa state, the Northwest Ex-Officio member of the Party, Alhaji Aminu Nuhu Jahun has resigned from the party.

Jahun announced his resignation while speaking to journalists in Dutse, Jigawa state capital.

He said he took the painful decision to dump the party he served for 24 years because the party in Jigawa state has been hijacked, by some individuals and turned it into a tool for personal vendetta.

Jahun also stated that his illegal suspension from the party, smearing campaign against his reputation, and deviating from the party philosophy which made the party lose its relevance in his beloved state are among the factors that forced him to quit the party.

“I was invited by the PDP Jigawa State Working Committee and quarried for attending the swearing-in of the Kano State Governor who happened to be a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), so is this enough reason to suspend me from the party, this is stupidness.

“I have been in PDP for 24 years now. Served as the State Publicity Secretary, vice chairman in charge of Jigawa central senatorial district and elected as the Northwest Ex-Officio member of the party in Kaduna, now given such treatment, surely I can’t tolerate it,” Jahun said.

He however stated that thousands of his political associates and many other members victimized by party leaders will soon announce their resignation from the party in Jigawa state.

A copy of the one-month suspension letter against Malam Aminu Nuhu Jahun signed by the Jigawa state PDP secretary Honourable Isa Bello dated 01/06/ 2023 was obtained by our source but no reason for the suspension was mentioned in the letter.

However as the election tribunal closed receiving petitions and also commenced case hearing in Jigawa state, the investigation revealed that PDP did not file a petition against the state governorship election, which means it concealed the defeat.
