The Kano State Government has banned indiscriminate outdoor advertising and pasting of posters on walls of public and private buildings in the State.
This was contained in a statement, Friday, by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Kano State.
According to the statement, a task force will be set up to ensure compliance as the measure became necessary in the wake of the rising defacing of walls and other public properties with political posters.
“Individuals and entities are mandated to use billboards and electronic means for poster display as part of the efforts to keep the State clean and beautiful.
“As directed by Governor Yusuf, officials of the Ministry of Environment and State Fire Service have been going around the streets in the metropolis to remove all posters (electoral and others).
“The first phase of the exercise commenced on Thursday at Wudil Road, State Road, Ahmadu Bello Way, Bayero University Road, and Ibrahim Taiwo Road, the statement added.
