The wife of the Sokoto state Governor Hajiya Mariya Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has called for peaceful conduct of the forthcoming Gubernatorial and State Assembly Elections in the state.

The Governor’s wife made the call at a campaign rally for Sokoto South Senatorial District organized by the women’s wing of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state on Saturday in Bodinga.

Speaking at the rally, Mariya appreciated women in the state for coming out massively to cast their votes at the February 25th Presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.

Represented by Professor Aisha Madawaki Isah, the State Commissioner for Higher Education, she, however, called on women to monitor their children in order not to be involved in violence during the polls.

“Children are our treasures; we should monitor their activities in order not to be deceived into violence by desperate politicians.

“Any politician who asked them to engage in violence should tell him to align them with his children to carry out the dangerous task.

“As good citizens, we should continue to be patient and remain peaceful,” she said.

Mariya urged the PDP women and Youth in the state to stand firm at the coming elections to ensure their votes count.

“PDP is a party which is built with the mission of peace and peaceful coexistence, as such we should follow our mandate peacefully,” she added.

In her remarks, Hajiya Hindatu Umar, the Wife of the PDP Governorship Candidate in the state, Malam Sa’idu Umar, solicited more support for the party in the state.

She assured the gathering that the PDP candidate if given the mandate will sustain the legacies of Tambuwal and ensure a more democratic dividend for the state.

“My husband will give more priority to Youth and women empowerment as well as ensure job opportunities toward addressing Youth restiveness if elected,” she said.

The state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Kulu Abdullahi Sifawa said the rally was organized to appreciate women’s sustained support and love for PDP in the state.

“As you are all aware the PDP-led government under Tambuwal has given women all they need to come out and support his administration.

“Therefore, we need to reciprocate this gesture by coming out en masse and vote for all PDP candidates in order to get more for ourselves, parents, children, and the society at large,” she added.
