The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila winner of the Kano South Senatorial District election.
The returning officer, Prof Ibrahim Barde declared the election results as follows:
APC – 192,518 (Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya)
LP – 2,875 (Umar Darki)
NNPP – 319,857 (Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila)
PDP – 14,880 (Galadanci Murtala Bashir)
Sumaila defeated Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya of the All Progressives Party (APC).
