INEC Commences Distribution of Election Materials in Sokoto

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Sokoto state on Wednesday commenced distribution of both sensitive and non-sensitive Election materials for the conduct of Saturday 25th general election.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in charge of the state, Dr. Nura Ali while sorting out the Election metropolis assured that the exercise will commence simultaneously across all the 3991 polling units across the state. 

Addressing journalists shortly after inspecting the materials that comprise ballot papers and result sheets amongst many others, the State REC stated that INEC in the state is ever ready for a free, fair, and credible election.

Dr. Ali affirmed that representatives of all the political parties were equally invited to witness and monitor the exercise, he added that they would scrutinize the ballot papers and result sheets and then begin distribution to the various local governments in alphabetical order.

He stated that the election is going to hold in all the polling units of the State, except for those without registered voters, the REC further divulged that no security threat whatsoever hence they have been assured by the relevant security agencies.

In his assessment of the exercise, Sokoto State Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC), Alhaji Abba Sidi said they are satisfied with the whole process, adding that it is transparent enough.

He appealed to the electoral umpires and all other staff likely to be involved to be fair to all in the discharge of their national assignment by not disenfranchising anybody or a group of people.
