The Kebbi State government has awarded an N5.67 billion contract for the dualization of the Birnin Kebbi- Argungu road in the Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
The Commissioner for Works and Transport, Alhaji Abubakar Chika-Ladan made the disclosure at the signing of the contract agreement with Habibu Engineering Nigeria Ltd., in Birnin Kebbi.
“We are here to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the road contract awarded by Gov. Atiku Bagudu for the dualization of some portion of Birnin Kebbi- Argungu road.
“The road is from NNPC mega station in Birnin Kebbi up to the junction of Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport in the Ambursa area along Birnin Kebbi- Argungu road.
“The project is an eight-kilometer road and is expected to be completed within 12 months,” he said.
Chika-Ladan said the road project was an indication of the commitment of the incumbent administration to uplift the well-being of the people of the state.
“When the project is completed, it will ease transportation problems faced by the people coming to the state capital, especially as the state is developing, and will also give the capital a befitting face.
“Much as we want to do much, we also have to share the development across the state.
“We have touched all parts of the state as there is no single local government area that we have not constructed a road or two.
He also urged the company to adhere to the contractual agreement, saying the company was known for its prompt execution of projects even prior to the time specification.
