The Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 10 Headquarters Sokoto, AIG Bello Sani Dalijan has guaranteed efforts aimed at decimating crimes and criminality and improving public safety and security across Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara States.
The AIG urged Commissioners of Police (CPs) and Tactical Commanders in the Zone to beef-up security ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, to prevent any untoward situation in their Areas of Responsibility throughout the season and beyond.
He admonished the supervisory Commissioners of Police in Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara States to ensure adequate deployment of officers and assets to prevent the occurrence of crimes and criminality and to build confidence among the citizens.
Dalijan charged officers and men of the Police to engage in critical assessment of threat-prone areas, thorough stop and search, raids on black spots, and other anti-crime strategies capable of sustaining peace and public safety in the Zone.
“Personnel deployed must be professional and mindful of the fundamental human rights of the citizens, and discharge their responsibilities with all sense of decorum and alertness.
He called on Politicians in the three states to play according to the rules and ensure peaceful electioneering campaigns while also admonishing parents not to allow their children to be used as political thugs in the forthcoming elections.
He assured the general public that The Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of Inspector General of Police Usman Alkali Baba has placed security mechanisms to ensure peaceful conduct of the 2023 General Elections.
The AIG however congratulated the Christians Faithfuls in the Zone and the country on the occasion of the year 2022 Christmas celebration, enjoined them to celebrate and enjoy the beauty of the Christmas season while remaining security conscious.
He urges all and sundry to report suspicious individuals, movements, or activities to the police for prompt intervention as he admonished them to cooperate with operatives of the Police and other sister security agencies deployed on duty at strategic places for the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
“I wish all Christians faithful a happy and peaceable Christmas celebration,” the AIG stated.
