A Sokoto Prince and former Nigerian Ambassador to South Africa, Alhaji Shehu Malami Sarkin Sudan is Dead.
Sarkin Sudan died in the late hours of Monday, in a private Hospital in Cairo, Egypt where he was receiving medication after a protracted illness.
Late Shehu Malami was a former Nigerian Ambassador to South Africa in the administration of former military ruler, late Nigerian head of state, General Sani Abacha.
He was a former District head of Wurno, the headquarters of Wurno local Government area Sokoto state, before being transferred to Dange District the headquarters of Dange/Shuni local Government area, as (Sarkin Baura), by the late Sultan Ibrahim Dasuki, the 18th Sultan of Sokoto caliphate after an alleged disagreement.
While serving as District head of Wurno in the 80s, the late Sarkin Sudan established many companies in Wurno that includes, including Zaki Bottling Company producers of Steem and King Cola soft drinks, Wurno Plastic limited and Wurno Construction materials otherwise known as (WUCOMAT) producers of red bricks.
A successful businessman, the late Sarkin Sudan until his death served on the boards of many companies within and outside the country, including Abuja Electricity distribution company (AEDCO)
The deceased voluntarily relinquished his appointment as District head of Dange (Sarkin Baura ) to concentrate more on his established business empire.
He was adjudged by the Sokoto state Board of internal revenue as the only business tycoon in the state who voluntarily approached the state internal revenue service to redeem the assessment tax of his properties in the state.
His funeral is yet to be announced, as the Sultanate council is still waiting for the arrival of his body from the republic of Egypt where the deceased finally gave the ghost in the late hours of Monday.
