KSCHS has increased access to quality, affordable healthcare services in Kano – Commissioner

The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Scheme (KSCHS) has immensely increased access to quality and affordable healthcare services in the state.

The Commissioner of Health, Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa made the assertion at a 2-Day Strategic Retreat in Kaduna organized by the Kano Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas on policy and strategy implementation.

He said the scheme has been able to achieve the feat by ensuring the availability of all essential drugs, consumables, and other services in all the healthcare facilities engaged by the Scheme, including access to free services which were being given for free to all vulnerable groups who were enrolled under the Scheme.

He further said that the initiative has also contributed to the increase in turnout in health facilities, particularly antenatal attendance, by the enrollees.

Dr. Tsanyawa then commended the efforts of the Kano State House of Assembly and the Committee on Health, particularly the Vice Chairman, Hon. Pharmacist Magaji Dahiru Zarewa and other members of the House and those representing Gabasawa and Gaya Constituencies for making out time to witness the event.

In his remarks, the Chairman Governing Board of KSCHMA, Dr. Basheer Ibraheem Mohammed (Dankadai of Kano) stated that creating the scheme has supported facilities to have more equipment and other infrastructure which has helped individuals who live in distant communities to access services, adding that this brings opportunities for increasing the well-being of residents in the State.

On her part, the Executive Secretary of KSCHMA, Dr. Halima Muhammad Mijinyawa called on the good people of Kano state to seize this golden opportunity to enroll their families into the Scheme so as have access to effective, qualitative, and affordable Healthcare services as well as to protect their families from the financial hardship of huge medical bill.
