Court of Appeal sitting in Sokoto has struck out a suit filed by Senator Adamu Alero of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) challenging the decision of the Federal High Court over the party primary election in Kebbi state.
Delivering judgment in Sokoto, Justice Mohammed Danjuma, upheld the Justice Babagana Ashigar of Federal High Court Birnin Kebbi’s judgment that produced Haruna Sa’idu as the PDP candidate.
The respondents are Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Recall that Justice Ashigar on Sept. 27, 2022, upheld the primary election that produced Haruna Sa’idu as the authentic senatorial candidate for the Kebbi Central seat.
The Appeal Court Judge said he perused all the arguments presented by different Counsel, citations of court judgments, and other judicial considerations and arrived at the decision.
He said the eight appeal grounds were considered, thereby dismissing the suit based on lack of merits and upholding the lower court judgment.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday, Alhaji Haruna Saidu the confirmed senate candidate, commended the Nigeria Judiciary for performing a good job and promoting Nigeria’s Democracy.
We are having full confidence in our judiciary, our Democracy is safe in the hands of this present administration, he said.
He then urges all the PDP supporters to rally around and support all the party candidates in the state in order for them to win the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
