Waves of Defection: Another Blow for PDP in Sokoto

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto state has lost another party stalwart to the All Progressive Congress, APC.

The PDP Chieftain,  Alhaji Haliru Aliyu Sanda Gudu Rinin Tawaye while addressing APC leaders including its gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu said he has refused himself to be used in deceiving the people of the state by the administration of  H.E. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

He said he defected to APC from his former party, the PDP alongside his 711 notable followers.

The decampee was  received into APC’s fold by the state chairman of APC, Hon. Isah Sadiq Achida and APC gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto at the state APC secretariat during the stakeholders meeting organized by APC Elders Committee.

Speaking shortly after his defection, Gudu said he is now fully contented as he joined the APC.

He said PDP lacked the required ideology to govern the state as none of its promises to the electorate was fulfilled after seven years.

He expressed delight with the caliber of personalities in APC especially as it is being led by the former governor of the state, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, whom he described as an excellent leader.

Also speaking, the APC chairmen, Hon. Achida welcome the new decampee and his supporters to and assured them that they would be fully accommodated.  

The APC stakeholders meeting was attended by Minister of Police Affairs ,Alhaji Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, APC Deputy gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Idris Muhammad Gobir and Chairman NAFDAC Governing Board Alhaji Umar Nagwari Tambuwal among multitude  other important dignitaries.
