Teacher Recruitment: PWDs Lauds Conduct of Aptitude Test, Demand 10% Opportunity

The Disability Community in Kogi State has lauded the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and Kogi State Science Technical Education, and the Teaching Service Commission (STETSCOM), for the successful conduct of the aptitude test for teacher recruitment held in the state.

The Disability Community spoke through the Kogi State Executive Director, Office of the Disability Affairs, Barr. Zacchaeus Dare Michael, said reports indicate that persons with disabilities got special treatment during the aptitude test.

He urged other MDAs to emulate the efforts of the Ministry of Education and STETSCOM in the special treatment given to PWDs during the Aptitude test, described it as commendable.

Barr. Dare, however, called for the full implementation of the law for people with disability, and demanded 10% employment opportunities for the Disability Community.

He appreciated the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones and Mrs. Cecilia Cook for organizing a seamless aptitude test that was Inclusive took cognizance of persons with disabilities, however, said what is now left is the full application of the 10% for PWDs.
