SOSG, KAEDCO to Improve Power Supply

Sokoto State Government is to work with Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO) to arrest billing and improve electricity supply to consumers in the state.

The State Commissioner for Energy and Petroleum Resources, Alhaji Aliyu Balarabe Dandinmahe disclosed this shortly after meeting with KAEDCO Officials at a consumer forum held in the state.

He said electricity consumers in the state are founding it difficult in doing business with the distribution company in the area of metering, and bill estimation.

“How can a client like KAEDCO with millions of customers fail to provide excellent services despite huge collections every month,” Dandinmahe asked.

The commissioner called on the management of KAEDCO to provide consumers in the state with prepaid metres to avoid discrepancies in the billing system.

The Chairman, Board of Directors, KAEDCO, Alhaji Abbas Jega while speaking to customers at the Forum said the total collection for Sokoto state consumers was only 30 percent out of a hundred.

He said KAEDCO is making effort to change transformers in Birnin Kebbi and Sokoto to improve power transmission and distribution.

According to him the management of the transmission company will soon come up with a system that would make communication easier with its consumers through various social media platforms for prompt settlement of complaints.

Jega further assured that there would soon be an improvement in distribution and supply of electricity to Sokoto state, adding that over 6000 consumers along Army barracks would be provided with prepaid metres free of charge as a pilot scheme, which would later cover other areas of the state metropolis.
