Warning Protest: NLC Others Stormed Jigawa Government House

As Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and other affiliated organization commenced two-days nationwide warning protest, the Jigawa state branch stormed Dutse Government House and demanded for solution to the prolonged strike embarked by Academic Staff of University Union (ASUU).

The Secretary, Jigawa state branch of NLC, Comrade Abubakar Alhassan led the protesters to the government house after walking a 7-kilometer distance.

In his speech, Comrade Alhassan told Governor Badaru to informed the authority concerned that, enough is enough, with regards to over 5-months ASUU strike and other problems militating the country education sector.

“The situation our universities and their students found themselves is very disheartening, but at the same time the authority concern shows lackadaisical attitude toward resolving the ugly trend.”

He warned that the situation must be given an urgent attention and resolved the problems before it goes out of control.

One of the protesters, Comrade Bello Ibrahim accused the authority concern for deliberately taken an action that will kill Nigerian universities system because their children are not study in Nigeria.

“They care not for our children’s future as our children spent more than 5 months at home, their children are busy graduating at foreign universities, this is very unfortunate and something must be done to stop this social injustice,” he declared.

In his response, Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar urged NLC and other affiliated Union to exercise restrain considering the huge challenge confronting the nation.

He promised to channel NLC’s demand and grievances to appropriate authority for immediate solution
