Police Operation Puff Adder Foils Attacks, Arrest Suspects in Sokoto

The Police shift from traditional policing practices to reviewed crime-fighting strategies has started yielding positive results in Sokoto state Police Command.

The command has recently arrested a large number of suspects for criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, killing, and causing bodily harm to their victims including one Mamuda Mande of Badawo village of Wamakko LGA Sokoto, who reported to the police that some unknown persons attacked and inflicted serious injury on his head and also robbed him of hundred thousand Naira (N100,000.00) cash.

The police said as the investigation commenced by the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID), three suspects were arrested; namely Hussaini Harande, Shehu Aliyu, and Aliyu Abubakar.

In the course of the preliminary investigation, all the suspects gave a stunning confession for being responsible for the attacks as well as extortion of (N100, 000.00).

In addition, the suspects admitted ownership of the sticks and blood-stained clothes recovered at the crime scene.

They will all be arraigned in court as soon as the investigation is completed.

In another development, the police however in another case of criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, armed robbery, and mischief by fire revealed that one Shehu Mamman of Zangon Atti village in Gwadabawa Sokoto state reported at the police division that while he was molding blocks along with his father, they were attacked by a group of vigilante men armed with cutlasses, sticks, and guns.

The attacker’s complainant accosted them and beckoned his father through a conversation and in the process, one of the vigilantes shot his father dead, ransacked the house, and made away with the sum of N430,000.00k and set their house ablaze alongside his father who was burnt beyond recognition.

The police said after a full-scale investigation by the state CID discovered at the preliminary stage that the said Shehu Mamman who had recognized the identity of some of the assailants led the investigation team to the arrest of Aliyu Abdulrazak and Rabi’u Abdullahi all members of the outlawed vigilante that launched the attacks.

Their arrest according to the police further draw some vital confessions which led to the arrest of other key suspects that physically took part in the commission of the crimes.

The arrested suspects are all male residents of the same address as follows Mustapha Yakubu, Abdulaziz Suleiman, Abdulbasiru Alhaji Idi, and Isah Musa.  All the suspects are under custody of the police and have confessed to the crime, of killing the victim and setting his house and corpse ablaze.

All suspects would be arraigned in court, the police stated.
