World sports journalits day

Highly-rated sports journalist and media officer of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL)Club, Nasarawa United FC, Eche Amos, took to his Facebook page to celebrate International Sports Journalists Day, 2022.

The multiple award-winning Eche who is also the President of NPFL Media Officers’ Forum wrote thus:

“Today, the world celebrates Sports Journalists for their numerous roles in promoting sports, the social syntax, and bringing families and acquaintances together towards a peaceful and entertaining world.

“The Theme for this year’s celebration is: “Securing a Sustainable and Peaceful Future for All.”

“Anyone can be a journalist, but not everyone can be a sports journalist.

“Sportswriting and reporting have taken me to all the 36 states of Nigeria and the F.C.T., Abuja.

“I have equally covered sports in countries in Africa, Asia, and Europe and still going farther, interviewing the real actors, administrators, and stakeholders, among others, and informing, educating, and entertaining the audience while setting the agenda.

“Apart from being a proud member of both local and international sports organizations like the SPORTS WRITERS’ ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA, SWAN (headed by Comr. Honour Sirawoo), and the INTERNATIONAL SPORTS PRESS ASSOCIATION, AIPS (headed by Gianni Merlo), which give sports Journalists the legal rights to cover sports anywhere around the globe.

“I love sports journalism because I know sport does have the powerful ability to unify even the most racially divided people, cutting through stereotypes and pre-conceived notions keeping different racial groups apart and even breaking down barriers of racial tension and allowing these groups to come together as one people through their love of the sport.

“It’s in the sport that races, societies, religions, and economies forget about their differences to embrace one another wholeheartedly in support of a common cause.

“Over 70% of my success stories have come through the sports world.

“The task of covering, writing, and reporting sports may be huge, with its attendant consequences, I, however, felicitate with my colleagues in this noble chase, for all they do to make the world a better and entertaining place!

“There is no pulling back until the ‘GOAL’ is achieved!”

The young and promising sports journalist has cult followership across the length and breadth of the Nigerian and international communities as he continues to break barriers and stereotypes with his beautiful and unbiased writing skills and content development in the sports world!
