The National Union of Kebbi State Students Association (NUKSSTA) in collaboration with the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), have called on the Kebbi State Government to stop paying the state own University of Science and Technology Aliero their monthly salary for joining the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike and failure to call off their solidarity strikes.
The students who storm the Ministry for Higher Education on Wednesday while addressing the authority concerned over the strike action, expressed dismay over the solidarity strikes embarked upon by the state own University in Aliero.
Addressing the journalists shortly after their meeting at the Ministry, the NANS Zone A coordinator, Comrade Muhammad Adamu kichinga said that since the Federal Government applied section 42 sub 1A of the trade dispute act Law “No Work, No Pay” the Kebbi State Government should also apply the same Law.
He explained further those students are struggling to pursue their educational career, but ASUU is denying them.
He then called the state own tertiary institutions to withdraw their support and call off their solidarity strikes, if they fail to do so, the Government should also stop their salary as it applies to the Federal Institutions.
Also speaking, the KSUSTA President, Comrade Muhammad Muhammad Majo appealed to ASUU in the state to call off their solidarity strike and let the students continue with their normal academic activities.
Responding, the Director in charge of Students Affairs in the Ministry for Higher Education, Hussaini Alhaji Tata told the students that they will look into their plea while the Ministry will relate their message to the relevant authority concerned for further action.
