The Kano State Head of Civil Service and Chief of Staff, Government House, Usman Bala Muhammad, mni, has called on the management of the Land Bureau to widen their horizon to generate more revenue to sustain the State.
The Head of Service, Bala who received the Bureau’s delegation on a courtesy visit, said the Bureau is an important organ of the Government as it generates revenue for the State.
According to him, the land is everyone’s business and is the business of well-to-do individuals, urging the Bureau to use its initiatives to collect more revenue from them to help government be financially independent.
He advised the Management of the Bureau to use stick and carrot in handling issues before them with regard to land management.
The HoCS noted that there were a lot of wrongdoings in the past in the land Ministry, reaffirming that with the presence of Dr. Zainab Braji at the Bureau such issue no longer existed.
Dr. Braji to do away with bad civil servants and rid the Bureau of land fraudsters, adding that those who performed well should be recognized and rewarded.
He also disclosed at the Executive Council meeting that a law empowering the institution was discovered but should be amended.
Earlier in her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau for Land Management, Dr. Zainab Ibrahim Braji asked the new HoCS to sit tight and so well to solve all problems bedeviling State Civil Servants.
Dr. Braji congratulated the new HoCS and assured him of Bureau’s support and cooperation.
She, however, called on him to intervene in the issue of State Tertiary Institutions joining strike action embarked upon by Federal Universities, saying educationally backward states or regions like ours shouldn’t be part of industrial action.
Dr. Braji also urged civil servants in the state to be grateful to Allah SWT as they are enjoying their monthly salaries, unlike other states of the federation that default in paying salaries.
