The Management of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) says the low power supply in its coverage area, Kano, Katsina, and Jigawa States was due to low generation as a result of gas shortage.
The Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Ibrahim Sani Shawai in a statement, Monday, said the low generation has reduced power allocation to KEDCO as the company is now being allocated 120MW on the average out of statutory MYTTO allocation of 368MW.
According to him, the shortfall of 248MW from allocation to KEDCO is responsible for the current massive load shedding to industrial, commercial, and residential customers in our coverage area.
“Those saddled with the responsibility of addressing the challenge from the generation sector are already working on the gas supply issue.
“We are appealing to our numerous customers to kindly bear with us, as soon as supply improves; we will double our efforts towards providing quality services.
“On the other hand, we assure our customers that they would soon begin to enjoy value for their money, as projects under CBN meant to improve and expand KEDCO’s networks are receiving serious attention from the contractors.
