Sokoto State Government has notified parents and students of public and private Schools that in a sequel to the curfew imposed by the state as a result of the violent religious demonstration, all students of basic and secondary education schools in the state are now to resume on the 22nd of May 2022.
The State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Bello Abubakar Guiwa in a statement said the extension became imperative due to the growing tension in the state as a result of the alleged blasphemy and killing of the accused last Thursday.
“Sequel to the curfew declaration by the Sokoto state government, I have directed the closure of all public and private schools with a view to ensure the safety of our students and prevent further escalation of the already doused in the state.
He said are however to resume next week May, 22, for boarding, and May 23, for day students.
In a related development, final year students who are supposed to commence writing their WAEC examination on Monday 16th of May 2022 were not affected.
The commissioner called on Parents, teachers, SBMCs, and PTA to comply with the new directives.
