NANNM Set to Conduct Competition for Health Students in Kebbi

In its efforts to produce a qualified health worker, the Kebbi State National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives has concluded an arrangement to conduct Annual Inter-schools Competition for students of nurses and midwives across the health institutions in the state.

Delivery his speech to mark Eid-el-Fitri and May Day celebrations on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi, the chairman of the Association, Kebbi State Branch, Comrade Kilani Abdulwaliyu said that the competition will take the form of social get-together and which will include Quiz and Debate to enhance healthy competition among our nurses to be, in order to awaken their academic consciousness and social alertness.

The chairman who emphasis that the aimed of the competition is to ensure that they produced qualified health workers while any incompetent students will be expired.

“We are dealing with human lives and we most give our students a good health training in order for them impact the knowledge on health services delivery, we don’t want them to come and killed an innocent patient” he said.

He explained further that at the end of each competition, Trophy will be presented as a symbol of victory and handsome prizes and special gifts will be won.

He, therefore, said this year NANNM Kebbi State will sponsor some members to further their education program in any of the institutions across the country.

 “We want to provide our members educational palliatives. This will come in form of financial support for our members who are willing to embark on their Master’s Program in Nursing.

“Our main goal is to ease our members’ financial burden and to compliment the effort of our National Body who already providing support for the PhD students” he added.

In achieving this and in order to make sure that the process is transparent, the union has set up a committee of five (5) to be chaired by Alhaji Bala Mohammed Kende, and Hajiya Amina Musa Gabi has been selected as the Secretary to the Committee, while the core mandate of the Committee is to work towards ensuring that other cadres of academic pursuits are eventually captured in this arrangement.

He then urges any of the members across the state who are currently undergoing Master Program are hereby enjoined to liaise with their Unit Leadership by forwarding their application which shall comprise a copy of their Admission Letter in order to benefit from this package.
