Kebbi State Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Shalla, says that the state government has procured 65,000 bags of foodstuff worth N580 million to be distributed across the state on Monday.
Shalla made this known to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday.
He said,” As part of Governor Atiku Bagudu administration’s effort in order to cushion the effect of some difficulties and challenges faced by the people, especially in rural areas, the state government has procured 65,000 bags of foodstuff worth N580 million to be distributed across the state.”
The gesture is aimed at serving as a Ramadan palliative and geared towards bringing down the prices of grains in the state.
The commissioner, however, commended the minister of justice Foundation Khadimiyya ” for distributing over 17,000 bags of parboiled rice to 21 local government areas of the state for onward distribution to the less- privileged as Ramadan package.
He, therefore, called on well-to-do individuals in the society to emulate the same gesture in other to complement the state government efforts.
