Ramadan: Jigawa Disburses Over N700m to 343 Retirees

In the spirit of Ramadan, Jigawa state government through the State and Local Government Contributory Pension Board has released the sum of N715,732,740,83 for the payment of workers’ pensions and other related entitlements.

The executive secretary of the Board, Alhaji Kamilu Musa Aliyu revealed this while briefing newsmen on their preparation for the commencement of payment.

He said Governor Badaru has directed the board to hasten the payment of the retiree benefits to enable them to observe their Ramadan fasting without economic challenges.

Kamilu explained that 343 were screened for the payment, including N555,877255,03 as retirement benefit to 251 workers, N125,042,597,36 as a Death benefit to 55 people, and N34,802,788,17 as Death Pension Balance.

He added that the beneficiaries were workers who served under the state government, local government, and Local Education Authority in the state.

The secretary noted that as soon as they completed the payment exercise, they will start processing the payment of the remaining retires to ensure no single retire left behind without collecting his entitlement before the end of the Ramadan period.

He then reiterated the commitment of the board to ensure effective management of the pension assets and equally a timely payment of the workers entitlement.
