His Eminence the Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III has advised the 20 Waqaf Scholarship Students of Fatima College of Nursing Sciences Sifawa to be dedicated to their studies.
The sultan made the remarks at his palace while receiving the Waqaf (endowment) students who were on a courtesy visit to his palace yesterday.
The Sultan reminded them of the rationale behind their sponsorship to undergo medical training is to have more female nurses in the state, while urging them to justify the confidence reposed on them for the good of humanity.
The monarch however donated twenty thousand Naira to each of the waqf students for their upkeep.
Earlier in his address, the Executive Chairman Sokoto Zakkat and Endowment Commission (SOZECOM) Malam Muhammad Lawal Maidoki stressed that the visiting students were granted a scholarship through the commission to study Basic Midwifery at the college.
According to him, the students have already commenced lectures after being admitted.
He said they emerged successful after a series of screening exercises, aptitude tests, and placement interviews conducted by the commission and college management.
Malam Lawal Maidoki further told the sultan that, the students came from different districts of the state.
Some of the students interviewed appreciated the gesture and pledged to be of good character and to tirelessly achieve success in their studies.
The students were accompanied during the visit by members of the screening committee led by the chairperson Dr. Fatima Binta Musa.
