The Kebbi State All Progressive Congress (APC) has called on the Hon. Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabimila to declare the seat of Member representing Birnin Kebbi, Bunza, and Kalgo Federal Constituency vacant.
Addressing newsmen on Friday at the Zonal APC office, the state party legal adviser, Barr. Sanusi Jega said that the decision was based on the Nigerian constitution which says that any elected candidate who defects to another party without any division within the party should resign his appointment.
He explained that Hon. Bello Mohammed Yakubu decamped to Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and has purchased the form for his re-election as such the Kebbi State APC that sponsored him to the House is asking him to vacate the seat.
Also Speaking, the APC Vice-chairman Kebbi Central, Abubakar Bello Bunza expressed dismay over Hon. Bello Yakubu’s defection to PDP.
He also emphasized that Kebbi APC has withdrawn its support for his candidature while asking the RT. Hon Speaker of the House of Representatives to declare his seat vacant.
“We are ready to take legal action against him and the Hon. Speaker if he fails to act according to the Nigeria Constitution,” he said.
Speaking, a party elder statesman and APC Chieftain, Alhaji Sani Zauro appealed to Hon. Bello Yakubu to reconsider his action, as it is not too late for him to change his mind, or else the party is ready to take serious action against him.
Similarly, the Ward Chairman of the APC Nasiru Aliyu also asked the member to return their votes or else, they will write to the House to recall him.
