Kano state government has awarded a contract for the construction of 30 corner shops and renovation of the conference hall at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) secretariat complex in the state.
The Commissioner, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Engr. Idris Wada Saleh during a working visit to assess the construction site on Tuesday said the contractor has been mobilized to commence work.
He assured that the work will be completed in a short time.
Earlier, receiving the Commissioner in his office, the Chairman, NUJ, Kano Council, Comrade Abbas Ibrahim appreciated the visit and thanked Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for giving approval for the work at the Kano Council Secretariat.
He said: “The secretariat was built some 29 years ago and required a little uplift,” adding that with the antecedents of Engr. Saleh, the renovation work will be of high quality.
