A Gumel Emirate community group known as Youth Partnership to Engage Reform and learn (YOPERL) has asked the Jigawa state government to permit them to take part in supervising the ongoing construction of an Orthopedic hospital in town.
The Chairman, YOPERL, Comrade Musa Mu’az Gumel made the request when the group paid a courtesy visit to the Permanent Secretary (PS), State Ministry of Health, Dr. Salisu Mu’azu at his office.
Gumel said being the host community, YOSPERL is one of the critical stakeholders in the project, if permitted to supervise the project, it will certainly help the government to have value for money and for the contractors to deliver a quality job that will earn more reputation for his company.
The Chairman explained that community members are highly excited about having the project in their area and they vowed to give all necessary support to complete the project as planned by the state government and also protect it for achieving the desired goal.
“Even though the project is sited in Gumel Emirate, but it is for the benefit of all Jigawa people and beyond as healthcare services delivery has no boundary.
“Constructing such a special health facility will enhance the Jigawa state public healthcare services delivery and equally ease the difficulties patients are facing while seeking such healthcare services as the hospital is first of its kind in the state,” he declared.
The group however commended Jigawa State Governor, Muhammad Badaru for the priority he accorded to the issue of making basic healthcare services accessible and affordable to the people of the state.
In his response, the PS, State Ministry of Health, Dr. Salisu Mu’az thanked the group for the visit and promised to partner with the community to ensure the project come to reality.
Dr. Mu’az then gave the group permission to monitor the project decently and respectably, as he also assured the government’s commitment to complete the project within the stipulated time for its optimal utilization.
