Sokoto Eastern Zone Development Association (SEZDA) has on Saturday nets over 300 million Naira at a fundraising ceremony aimed to develop the zone already destabilized by bandits and active criminal gangs.
The fundraising ceremony under the chairmanship of the former Governor of the state Attahiru Bafarawa was conceived by sons and daughters of Zone with the sole aim of developing the area economically crippled by armed bandits since 2018.
In his remarks during the occasion, Bafarawa said, the situation people of Sokoto east found themselves in make it difficult for the area to witness meaningful development.
He said the funds realized during the occasion would be judiciously utilized for the purpose intended and each Kobe or Naira would be followed to the later.
The chief launcher of the Occasion Alhaji Sahabi Tungar Kwangi donated 5million naira into the fund, while former Governor Attahiru Bafarawa gave 10 million Naira, Ummarun Kwabo Jarman Sokoto 8 million Naira and Sokoto state Government donated 100million naira.
Other donors at the fundraising are friends of Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal’s 25million Naira while friends of former Governor Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa donated 120million naira.
The Chairman of the People Democratic Party (PDP) Bello Muhammad Goronyo 2million Naira, Hon Bargaja 5million, Hon Salame 2million naira, Local Government Chairmen in the zone 8million Naira and Chief of Staff, commissioners, special advisers donated 2.5million and state Women leader 250,000 Naira amongst many others.
