Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has re-emphasized the importance and relevance of traditional rulers in the maintenance of peace, security, tranquility, social cohesion and economic prosperity among the people of the country.
The Governor made the remarks on Sunday in Dakingari, Suru Local Government Area on the occasion of ten-year anniversary of Lamido Dakingari, Alhaji Ja’afaru Haliru Mutube II on the throne as the District Head and Lamido Dakingari.
Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Hassan Muhammad Shallah Gwandu, the Governor made it clear that, his administration has placed utmost priority on the involvement of traditional rulers in decision making process, implementation of developmental projects and continuing efforts in securing lives and property of the citizenry.
He congratulated the Lamido Dakingari of attaining ten years on the throne and commended him for maintaining unity, peace, tranquility and progress among the people of his domain.
The guest speaker, Professor Umar Tuni Muhammad Dakingari, Dean Faculty of Education, Federal University Birnin Kebbi, former Provost Federal College of Education Katsina and Adamu Augie College of Education Argungu dwelt on the necessity for leaders at all levels of governance to ensure justice and fairness in the tasks of leadership as well as facilitate the economic growth of the followership.
He traced the historical background of Dakingari Town and its inhabitants, commending Lamido Dakingari for upholding the ideals of the founding fathers of the town.
The Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar represented by the Galadima of Gwandu, Alhaji Ibrahim KKB rejoiced with the Lamido Dakingari on achieving decade-long rule, directing all traditional rulers in Gwandu Emirate to remain loyal, obedient, and supportive to incumbent administration.
The Chairman of the main committee and Chairman of Dakingari Development Association who is also the Kebbi State Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Maigari Abdullahi Ubandawakin Dakingri said the association would sustain its commitment to the development of the area with emphases on agriculture, education and industrialization.
He expressed happiness that, remarkable achievements in all fields of human endeavour have been recorded in the district since the ascension of power of Alhaji Ja’afaru Haliru Mutube as Lamido Dakingari ten years ago.
Addressing the gathering the Lamido Dakingari, Alhaji Ja’afaru Haliru Mutube II expressed immense appreciation and thankfulness to Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar, former Governor of Kebbi State Alhaji Sa’idu Usman Nasamu Dakingari as well as all indigenes of Dakingari for their support and fatherly advice to him, which led to the successes achieved in the rapid development of the district.
He affirmed pledge to continue to serve the people with the fear of God towards attaining the target objectives of uplifting the wellbeing of the people resident in all parts of his domain.
Goodwill messages were delivered by the District Head of Barbarejo Sarkin Yamma Alhaji Abdullahi Abubakar Bosu II, a business mogul the Chairman of Garima Group of Companies, Engineer Abubakar Maigandi Dakingari, Shatiman Dakingari and Jakadan Gwandu, a retired High Court Judge, Justice Sama’ila Haruna Rasheed, while the Secretary of Suru Local Government, Alhaji KB Usman Kawara thanked all those who witnessed the event.
During the celebration, the Lamido turbaned some village heads and traditional title holders including retired Permanent Secretary Ministry of Finance Kebbi State, Dr. Usman Umar Dakingari as Dallatun Dakingari, former Chairman of Suru Local Government, Alhaji Sahabi Muhammad Danbaba as Matawallen Dakingari and a former School Principal Alhaji Shehu Umar as Hakimin Dakingari.
Others were Aliyu Sahabi as Hakimin Wabbaku, Nasiru Sodangi Galadiman Dakingari, Alhaji Lamidi Uban Yoruba Dakingari, Alhaji Abubakar Chiso Sarkin Wanzaman Dakingari, Alhaji Bello Danladi Wakilin Shiyar Habe and Alhaji Isah Sahabi Dankoli, Sarkin Kolin Dakingari.
As part of the celebration the Lamido Dakingari, was presented with an award as global peace ambassador 1st in Africa, Global Humanitarian Ambassador 10th in North-West and First in Kebbi state by global service access to human rights international Bangladesh
The award was presented to him by Professor Buhari Isah, who said Lamido was chosen among the best potential recipients for the award of Global Peace Ambassador, Global Humanitarian Ambassador, Global Human Right Ambassador which was a world record holder.
Dignitaries who graced the occasion include former Governor of Kebbi State, Alhaji Sa’idu Usman Nasamu Dakingari, President of Nigeria Union of Teachers, Dr. Nasiru Idris Kauran Gwandu, the National Treasurer of Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) Alhaji Ibrahim A.I Suru, District Heads,
The Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami SAN represented by Chairman of NAPTI Alh. Abubakar Usman Gotomo BoT Chairman Khadimiyya, Assistant Comptroller General of Customs Usman Shehu Dakingari, top civil servant from federal, state and local government indigene of the area, Politicians, Party Leaders, Businessmen, serving and retired legislatures and Village Heads.
At the ceremony two Islamic clerics Mallam Ibrahim Kwairi Dakingari an Area Court Judge and Squadron Leader, Abubakar Ladan Dakingari a renown Islamic scholar delivered sermons admonishing Muslims, especially leaders at all levels to fear Allah, live in peace and harmony, be just, fair, love one another, ensure prudence in the management of public resources under their care.
