In a deliberate effort to check mate the menace of wandering by almajiri, Bauchi State government has been urged to provide structures for Tsangaya schools in the state.
A renowned Islamic scholar, Sheik Dan’azumi Musa Tafawa Balewa made the call on Sunday during the graduation ceremony of 74 students who have memorized the holy Qur’an at Abdulmumini Orphan School, Bununu.
Sheik Dan’azumi Musa said, to address squarely the movement and roaming of almajiris there is need for government to provide conducive learning environment and adequately fund the system.
He said in complementing the government’s effort, the leader of Tijjaniya sect in Africa, Sheik Dahiru Usman Bauchi and his disciples established modern tsangaya schools to meet the taste of time.
In his remarks, Sheik Dahiru Usman Bauchi who was represented by Sayyadi Mushiri Dahiru Bauchi, called on the graduands to embrace the holy Qur’an and step down the knowledge to other children.
He prayed for the restoration of peace in some parts of Nigeria as a result of the emerging issues of security ranging from kidnapping, banditry and food scarcity.
The Chairman of the occasion, the Hon. Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Abubakar Abdulhamid Bununu promised to support the school for optimum performance.
The commissioner, admonished people of the area to enroll their children to schools to acquire both the Islamic and western education.
The event was attended by government dignitaries, politicians, traditional rulers and wealthy individuals who donated for the progress of the school.
