There was a jubilation and excitement among thousands of less privilege people in Jigawa state as Federal Government monthly N5,000 Cash Transfer resume payment.
According to the state social security registered over 167,620 less privileges are expected to receive payment amounting to N1.6 billion.
A visit to some of the payment points in Kiyawa local government of the state, Stallion Times reporter saw hundreds of beneficiaries trooping to the venue with their accredited card for cash payment.
According to one of the beneficiaries, Hajara Rabi’u a middle age house wife, the N5,000 monthly cash transfer has changed her life and that of her family; she is now liberated from the shackles of poverty.
“When I received the first and second tranches of the payment, I used it as a capital to start cap making business, and from the profit I made and additional transfer that received, I bought a goat for fattening.
“Today my family members are living a decent life as our source of income has improved,” she added
For Hajara Abbas, who is between 70 to 80 years old, she uses the money to buy food and other essential items to sustain her life.
“I am too old to start any business, what I need now is something to keep my body and soul together for my remaining days on earth, thanks God this N5,000, it gives relief to my life and I am okay now.”
In a chat with the Training and Communication Officer, Jigawa state Cash Transfer Unit, Malam Mustapha Yakubu Madobi said, the ongoing payment exercise is for the month of May and June.
Two companies were contracted for the payment by Federal Government and the first company has already paid 67,402 beneficiaries while the ongoing payment will cover 91,255 other beneficiaries across the state, he added.
Malam Mustapha however expressed satisfaction with the on-going payment process.
