The All-Progressive Congress (APC) has expressed great concern over the plan by the Sokoto state government to secure a whooping loan of N28.7 billion to execute projects.
The State APC Chairman, Alhaji Isah Sadeeq Achida made the statement while briefing newsmen on Sunday at the party headquarters in Sokoto.
He said the loan to be secured by the PDP led administration would not be used for the purpose intended, considering the over N2 billion naira set aside for the purchase of Fertilizer in the year 2020 which was not in any way made available to the state farmers throughout that year.
Achida further said if the loan is secured by the state Government, the state is set to be the second most indebted state in Nigeria aside Lagos.
He said a state like Sokoto with a weak economy is further being impoverished with loans that are most likely to be squandered on non-profitable ventures is amount to wickedness to saddle yet unborn children with debts that are inexplicable.
Another issue of great concern is the deliberate removal of local government employees’ names from the payrolls of local Government councils which has become a political weapon in the hands of the state ruling party.
“We categorically call on the state government to put a stop the political vendetta, if not the PPC will not hesitate to take a roll call of victims and their data for appropriate action as all those omitted were believed to be members of APC.
