Despite the recession and other economic challenges experienced by Nigeria in the last six years, Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa state has succeeded in constructing and renovating over 96 roads with a total distance of over 1,642.43 km at the coast of over N175.13 billion within the period.
The state Commissioner Ministry of Works and Transport, Engineer Aminu Usman revealed while fielding questions from newsmen during a “Media Engagement Forum” organized by Correspondent Chapel held at Manpower Development Institute Dutse.
He said, the projects completed included inherited and new projects started by governor Badaru administration across the state, comprised regional, feeder roads and township roads.
The Honorable commissioner explained that, out of the said amount of money the governor Badaru has spent over N88.4 billion in completing all the road projects inherited from past administration with total length of 716.5 kilometers
The commissioner also revealed that, they inherited projects included 15 regional roads, 7 feeder roads and 20 township roads that were at various stage.
He noted that, out of N 88.4 billion the past administration has paid the total sum of N32.5 billion to contractors handling the projects.
According to him, when governor Badaru assumed office in 2015 he re- negotiated the contract with the firms handling the works who give discount ofN7.58 billion from the initial contract amount.
“Today we are proud to tell the world that we have completed all these inherited projects and we owe contractors no single kobo” he revealed.
“The Governor Badaru led administration is also determine to complete all the ongoing road project before the end of his tenure to ensure delivery of development of democracy to the Jigawa state people.”
“These projects was executed in according to All Progressive Congress (APC) philosophy of facilitating movement of goods and services for egalitarian development in the society ” Engr Aminu declared.
In his remarks, the chairman Jigawa state correspondent chapel Comrade Muh’d Zangina Kura described the achievement made by the ministry as a clear testimony of the advantage of Democratic system and good leadership in the society.
