APC Congress: ‘APC National Body Okays Our Process’ – Ganduje

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has stated that the National Headquarters of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) went through the process for the conduct of state congress of the party in the state.

The governor’s spokesperson, Abba Anwar in a statement on Saturday quoted Ganduje saying “Those from Abuja, (referring to a seven-man election committee sent from APC National headquarters), led by Barrister Auwal Abdullahi, went through our process and noted that it is okay.

“Today is a very important day for all of us here.

“We succeeded in conducting Ward and Local Government congresses. Which eventually produced leadership at these levels. As we are gathered here, we are equally going to have another successful and peaceful conduct,” he assured.

Governor Ganduje challenged that, Sani Abacha Stadium was the only venue where genuine and lawful congress was taking place, commending that, “We thank you for being orderly and we will follow the normal procedures for this all-important event.”

After the successful conduct of the congress, the Caretaker Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Abbas retained the position with 3,122 votes.

Before the commencement of the exercise, one Mustapha Sharif, from Dala local government withdrew from the Chairmanship race to Abdullahi Abbas.

Other contestants also followed suit and withdrew for some other positions being contested for.

The chairman and other newly elected party officials, were inaugurated by the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Muhammad Lawan.
