Gas Leakage: Ado-Odo/Ota Residents Ordered to Vacate Area

Residents of Itori in Ado-Odo/Ota local government area of Ogun State have been ordered to vacate the area amid reports of gas leakage.

The Chairman of the local government, Sheriff Adewale Musa, gave this order on Thursday while receiving a report from the team of Shell Nigeria Gas which was led by Tunde Olaleke, the External Relations Manager.

The report is about the leakage of the gas pipelines along Itori Village via Iyesi Ota. The order to vacate was given pending when the pipeline would be fixed.

Olaleke disclosed that it would take three to four weeks for Shell Nigeria to fix the damaged portions of the pipelines.

The local government chairman applauded Shell for extending its corporate social responsibilities to Ado-Odo/Ota local government area through the road palliative measures linking Iyana-Iyesi to Itori community and the provision of good water project for Itori community.

Meanwhile, the Baale of Itori Community, Chief Adeolu Adeyinka, who was also present during the inspection of the damaged gas pipelines, appreciated the quick intervention and urged other companies to emulate the kind gesture.
