The Sokoto State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has called on the PDP led government to give the 23 local government areas (LGAs) a new lease of life by releasing their allocations as appropriated by the federal government.
The state APC Caretaker Chairman, Alhaji Isa Sadiq Acida made the appeal during the swearing in of the newly elected APC local government chairmen held at State APC Secretariat on Saturday.
“The 23 LGAs are still starved of funds, even though, their monthly allocations are continuously being released by the federal government, “APC Chairman said.
Sadiq Acida noted that over six months after the inauguration of the 23 council Chairmen, they are being denied of their monthly allocations.
He recalled that the APC refused to participate in recently held local government council’s election in the state because the party reasoned that the local government were not going to be funded even after elections.
Acida argued that as things turned out, the APC has been vindicated.
According to him, the Chairmen may not be constrained to speak up, but we in the APC believed that it is right to speak in the larger interest of people of the state.
He therefore urged the State government to listen to the voice of reason and allow the local governments to breath, because presently, they can’t breathe.
He also, appealed to the state government to consider the plight of the traders at the Sokoto State Central market by rebuilding the market which was razed down by fire incident six months ago.
On the newly inaugurated local government Chairmen, the state party caretaker Chairman urged them to be observance of rules and regulations guiding the party affairs without discrimination or partiality.
While assured them that at state level APC would continue to uphold all the rules and speculations guiding party affairs impartially and diligently.
